Most recently, Melissa was Board Production and Quality Manager, with full project responsibility from conception through completion, for US Gypsum. Her other roles at that world-renowned company included Mill, Packing, and Quality Manager; Plant Engineer; and Project Engineer.

“Melissa’s vast quality and safety experience and expertise gained at US Gypsum will ideally complement JADCO’s aggressive business-growth goals. She will lead us to an advanced level of safety and quality that will benefit our employees and customers,” says Sam Anderson, JADCO’s President.

JADCO in the Community

Sam Anderson, JADCO’s President, needed company volunteers to help build new cabins and to assist with other construction projects for Pine Valley Camp, a local ministry that provides residential camping - and a genuine life-changing experience - for Pittsburgh’s inner-city youth.

The JADCO employee response was absolutely overwhelming, according to Matthew and Susan Reichart, who started the facility on its current mission in 1995. Prior to that, Pine Valley was rented, as needed for various functions, by nearby churches.

Mechanical Information

The ChromeWeld plate is a mild steel backer plate clad wit overlay weld beads ¾” to ½” wide. The physical appearance of the plate will demonstrate numerous hairline cracks, which are a natural stress relief phenomenon. These cracks are beneficial to the material, by allowing the plate to be formed, bent, and rolled without damage. In general, the overlay chemistry of the ChromeWeld material is as follows:



            



The surface of plate is a composite of chromium iron carbides in a chromium austenitic matrix. Typical hardness of the ChromeWeld is 55-62 HRC, depending on the thickness of the overlay.

»  Stock Plate size is 90” X 120”.

»  ChromeWeld will withstand continuous moderate impact.

»  ChromeWeld overlay will remain abrasion resistant at temperature up to 1100 degrees Fahrenheit.




Plasma burning, air arc or abrasive saw cutting.



The overlay surface can be finished by grinding only. EDM, plasma arc cutting or carbon-arc gouging may product countersunk holes for bolts. Pre-machines mild steel inserts may be welded into straight holes for additional machining. ChromeWeld can not be machined by ordinary methods.



When using a press brake, forming should be perpendicular to the weld pass direction. Plate rolling should be performed in the direction of the overlay beads. Forming ChromeWeld to the outside will cause cross-check cracks to open. This may require post-fabrication weld repair using suitable weld rod/wire.



ChromeWeld overlay plate can be joined by welding substrate to substrate using 309 stainless if pieces are beveled or if not beveled, T7100 series flux core.. Liner plates can be plug welded in place by welding the substrate to the base plate. Stud welds can be applied, but it is highly recommended that stainless steel studs be used. All weld seams, plug weld holes, bolt holes and all other joints exposed to wear should be protected by a cap weld of ChromeWeld weld rod wire.
