10 Times the Wear Life of Conventional
Mild Steel
JADCO QT-PLUS wear steel combines a specific chemistry and unique heat treating process to produce a premium-quality grade of alloy steel that’s unmatched in the industry.
Although QT-PLUS offers outstanding abrasion and wear resistance, parts manufactured from QT-PLUS remain highly ductile because QT-PLUS combines the abrasion resistance of 500 bhn with the ductility of 400 bhn.
QT-PLUS steel plates come in a varied of standard or cut-to-size dimensions.
Why Specify QT-PLUS?
> Weldability
QT-PLUS exhibits excellent weldability. Cheaper steels have carbon contents as high as 50%, resulting in poor weldability, and are susceptible to cracking.> Toughness
QT-PLUS is extremely tough. Cheaper steels typically have little or no alloy, and high carbon content, that reduce toughness.> Through-Hardness
QT-PLUS chemical composition produces a material that retains its inner toughness. Cheaper steels possess a lean chemistry that eliminates through-hardness.-
> Consistent Properties
QT-PLUS has uniform characteristics. With cheaper steels, lack of proper heat treating creates “hard” and “soft” spots. > Quality Parts
QT-PLUS is manufactured under the strictest quality standards. With cheaper steels, lack of quality control results in plates that are warped or wavy, making installation dicult and costly.> Fabrication
QT-PLUS is manufactured from a high quality premium steel that can be easily fabricated. With cheaper steels, forming, machining and welding are more difficult.

FORMING PROCEDURES FOR QT-PLUS®
QT-Plus® is cold formable with the proper equipment and material preparation. The material toughness allows it to be rolled or formed for almost any application. We recommend a minimum radius of 8T across the grain. Please follow the outlined procedures to minimize cracking concerns.
- Plate must be bent in direction perpendicular to the grain.
- Grind corners of gas-cut edge 12" beyond bend area before bending
- Grind any notches off gas cut surface in area of bend
- Can pre-heat to 300F to improve formability....but not over 400F
- Use as wide a female die (throat) as possible
- Use as wide a male punch as possible (3" radius rather than a 1" radius)
- Bump in several bends rather than one large one
- Look at outside radius surface before bending and grind out any gouges
