What Is The Best Wear Plate For Aggregate Discharge Chutes?

Aggregate Screening Plants endure some of the most demanding abrasion challenges. Continual sliding creates ‘rivers of wear’ in specific locations.

To combat this issue, the correct wear plate must have high hardness and resist fine particle abrasion. Chrome Carbide Overlay (CCO) plate far exceeds AR-type steel plate for this wear, regardless if it is limestone or quartz media.

This screen plant uses smaller wear plates, so after years of wear they can be changed out without having to replace the entire discharge chute package.

JADCO Chromeweld TM Nb-Plus carbide plate offers 50% longer life in abrasion applications than industry leading CCO (Chrome Carbide Overlay) plate.

How Does Nb PLUS Differ?

JADCO developed Chromeweld TM Nb PLUS to help you battle Severe Abrasion like you find in screening discharge chutes. The ideal results were achieved by using smaller, dense Niobium Carbides to lock into the matrix between the larger Chrome Carbides. The resulting plate gives you a superior abrasion resistant product.

Why Use Niobium Carbides With Chrome Carbides?

Chrome Carbides rarely wear out. What happens is the matrix, or the steel surrounding the carbides wear away and the carbide simply falls out.

To make it easy to understand, think of a Carbide Overlay plate like a chocolate chip cookie. The chocolate chips are the carbides, and the cookie is the matrix.

The more chocolate chips, the better the cookie tastes. The more carbides, the longer your plate will last. When you dunk the chocolate chip cookie into milk or coffee; the cookie (matrix) goes away and the chocolate chips fall to the bottom of the cup. Abrasion works the same way on most carbide plates, the matrix holding the carbides wears away and the carbides fall away.

JADCO’s Chromeweld ™ Nb PLUS adds smaller, harder Niobium Carbides to take up space between the larger Chrome Carbides. By locking in the larger Chrome Carbides, we are protecting the matrix and significantly delaying wear.
This is how you can double your wear plate life in high stress abrasion applications.

Our entire Chromeweld ™ family of CCO wear resistant products is made at our headquarters in Harmony, PA; 30 minutes North of Pittsburgh.

As the leading manufacturer of CCO plate Made in the USA, you can always depend on the quality you get from JADCO. Most steel distributors buy foreign CCO which has little carbide content, and even less quality control.
