What Wear Plate Do You Use For Sticky Materials?

Mining requires substantial processing to separate the ore from the surrounding materials. When your ore is covered by clay and other sticky materials, it makes your job more difficult.

The solution to the sticking issue is having a Chrome Carbide Overlay plate that is perfectly smooth.

Starting with our industry leading Chromeweld ™ 600 CCO plate, we Blanchard grind the Chrome Carbide Overlay to a mirror finish, to create Chromeweld ™ Glide.

You will notice the stress checks are more visible after it has been polished. People not familiar with CCO plates often think this is a product defect. In fact these stress checks are designed to prevent the welding stresses from separating the carbides away from the base metal.

Welding engineers will happily spend 45 minutes telling you how important it is to have these stress checks in place during the welding process.

Our standard size Chromeweld ™ Glide plate is 60” x 90”. The chrome carbide overlay is applied onto a mild steel base. They are made in standard thicknesses of ¼” on ¼” for ½” total thickness; and 3/8” on 3/8” for ¾” total thickness.

Special sizes are available on request. Glide is manufactured to order as it takes time on the grinding table to give the plate a mirror finish.

By comparison, here is a competitor’s Chrome Carbide Overlay wear plate. Due to their inconsistent bead heights, the weld beads tend to grab onto sticky material, not giving the wear plate a chance to wear smooth. The customer was told this material would excel in sliding applications.

This plate is in fact a poor choice when you work with sticky materials. Don’t make the same mistake in your system or you can expect to stop production frequently to manually clean off the material hanging up and reducing your through-put.

Your Benefits Using Chromeweld ™ Glide In Your Equipment To Process Sticky Materials:

• Reduce product hang up on chutes
• Reduce maintenance costs
• Reduced energy consumption
• Reduce spillages around equipment
• Reducing friction and premature wear
• Increasing production & longer equipment life

This microphotograph shows the Chromeweld ™ 600 Chrome Carbides with the 200 micron scale, which measures 0.008”. One Inch = 24,500 Microns. These dense chrome carbides are exceptional for sliding abrasion.

Chromeweld ™ Glide Fixed Plant and Mobile Equipment Applications Include:
• Chutes & Hopper Liners
• Transfer Points
• Dozer Blades
• Haul Truck Boxes
• Excavator Bucket Liners
• Loader Bucket Liners
• Drag and Shovel Bucket Liners
• Fan Blades

Choose Your Mounting Method Preference:

Chromeweld ™ Glide can be supplied with stud bolts per your existing pattern, or utilize countersunk inserts welded into the plate. Of course with the mild steel base plate, you can weld to structural elements with conventional welding products.

JADCO can add stud welds to your Glide plate, to create a drop in ready replacement for your equipment.

Cutting any of JADCO’s Chromeweld ™ family of products requires plasma cut, abrasive saw, air arc, water jet or wire EDM. It will not cut with any oxy/fuel torch.

JADCO Will Do As Much Or As Little As You Request

Glide can be used flat or formed, rolled or pressed to your required shapes; reducing installation time and maintenance costs.

Our entire Chromeweld family of CCO products are made at our headquarters in Harmony, PA, 30 minutes North of Pittsburgh.

As the leading manufacturer of CCO plate in the USA, you can depend on what you get from JADCO.

Many steel distributors buy foreign CCO having little carbide content and even less quality control.

To make certain we control every aspect of our Chromeweld overlay plate, JADCO has created our own clad machines. There is no substitute for excellence.

For the last 40 years we have focused exclusively on delivering consistent, longer life for our customers.

Now you understand why JADCO delivers better results for our customers. We think differently by focusing only on your results.
