maintenance supervisor

Job Responsibilities:

  •  Responsible for the safe work behavior and conditions within the Maintenance Team.
  • Works with Operations Managers to prioritize, coordinate and schedule maintenance needs to meet production goals.
  • Create predictive maintenance schedules.
  • Calibration of machines.
  • Maintain OSHA logs for compliance.
  • Encourage and build trust, respect and cooperation with all team members.
  • Relate to all shop and office personnel in an ethical manner.
  • Maintain appropriate behavior and compliance with procedures and directives.
  • Maintains housekeeping within all work areas of the team. 
  • Assigns team to specific job tasks based on individual capabilities.
  • Inspire team to achieve and exceed established goals.
  • Facilitate communication among all members within the Maintenance Team as well as across all teams.
  • Perceive problems as they develop and communicate such issues to the Operations Manager.
  • Demonstrate expected job duties to team members, and observe the performance of the team to ensure compliance with procedures and safety regulations.
  • Encourage all members of the shop to stay on task.
  • Confer with other Leaders and Supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within or between work areas.
  • Interpret specifications, electrical and mechanical schematics, and company policies and procedures for employees.
  • Monitor quality standards and specification requirements.
  • Provide team members with work instructions and supplies necessary to complete work tasks.
  • Communicate any discrepancies or issues with equipment that impact quality, scheduling and/or delivery of products.
  • Communicate and enforce workshop policy, rules and requirements.
  • Discipline and document worker performance issues including but not limited to attendance, poor quality, safety, performance, and behavior.
  • Communicate employee and personal suggestions for enhancing efficiency, quality, safety and continuous improvement.
  • Handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances and conflicts and confer with management or subordinates to resolve these issues, if necessary.
  • Report, investigate and document all incidents, accidents and injuries.
  • Comprehension and utilization of company database program and other computer applications.• Assigns team to specific job tasks based on individual capabilities. 

Job Qualifications

  • Strong maintenance experience in a supervisory role
  • High School Diploma required
  • Metal or heavy industrial manufacturing experience required
  • Must be familiar with welding
  • Electrical and hydraulic/pneumatic expertise
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Highly adaptable with strong organization skills to resolve conflicting priorities by remaining flexible in an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to apply creative thinking and generate solutions to complex issues
  • Ability to interact with all levels of the organization
  • Strong communication and change management skills.
